V&A

April 25 Dundee, UK

So today was the day for the V&A in Dundee.  If you have the opportunity
to go do it!    I have learned I am definitely a design gal , and design
museums excite me beyond belief.  This one is the best I have seen. Not
only is the building amazing, the shows were thoughtful and not afraid
to touch on controversial topics which I will discuss later.

So to begin with the building, from the moment I saw it ( several years
ago online). I new I had to come here one day.    It is like my work but
on a whole different scale. Kengo Kuma is the architect, from Japan, and
inspired by the cliff of Scotland!!!   this also supports my thought
that ideas are out in the universe for us wee humans to grab, and some
we grab and some we let slip by.  Several of us may grab the same one,
which is really so cool.

The building is so overwhelmingly well thought out , every corner is
interesting. The floor is wood board that are magnet on the underside  ,
so if they wear out they can be replaced or if for example they are
having a fashion shoe they remove the flooring and replace it with
something more suitable...brilliant.

The shows on currently are Scottish Design , Tartan, and Sincerely
Valentines ,  all amazing.  In both the Scottish Design and the Tartan
exhibition I learned so much, and there is so much for me left to ponder.  Not
only visual and design principles but in both shows, the controversy of
colonialism and what that meant for the people involved, Acknowledging
and exploring the reality of cultural exchange.  A lot left to think
about here, but for sure a refreshing open discussion.
